Hi, I’m Omar...
I'm a proud product of Edinburg public schools, thankful for great teachers and the strong values we were raised with. My parents went from working as migrant laborers to earning professional degrees, teaching us the importance of working together, saving money, and planning for the future. I earned scholarships to get my degree in accounting and later went on to law school. In my work life, I’ve helped analyze budgets for Fortune 500 companies and led multi-million dollar anti-fraud cases to get money back for working families. As I started my own law firm, I was proud to serve as Edinburg City Attorney, improving transparency and securing contracts that promoted public safety and investments in our community.

LOW TAXES
Our families work hard and I’ll fight to keep our taxes low. I’ll use my experience analyzing budgets for Fortune 500 companies to ensure we have reserves for emergencies, a strong bond rating to get the lowest interest rates, and transparent contracting to ensure we never overspend.
PUBLIC SAFETY
It’s my number 1 priority.
As City Attorney, I negotiated the contracts for our first responders ensuring we have one the highest paid police and fire departments in the county. We'll work to improve training, ensure rapid response times, and always honor those who serve.
GROWTH
My focus is on job training for our youth, expanding our economy, and bringing new entertainment for working families. I’ll work to maximize state and federal partnerships, while leveraging our strengths as the home to UTRGV, county government, and a thriving healthcare industry.
